Born and raised in Natchez, Mississippi, Mary Kate has always been passionate about animals and their care.
After earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University in 2002, she pursued her dream of becoming a veterinarian. In 2009, she graduated with Honors from the University of Glasgow with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery.
Over the past two decades, Mary Kate has enjoyed her veterinary career practicing in England, Australia, and the USA. She is a dual national of both the United States and the United Kingdom. She has had the opportunity to treat some very interesting animals, some of which were even celebrities! In August 2024, Mary Kate returned to the United States, making her home in Georgetown, Texas, where she continues her veterinary career.
With a diverse professional background, Mary Kate has worked in various areas of veterinary medicine, including general practice, dedicated feline care, emergency and critical care, shelter medicine as well as providing relief and mobile veterinary services. Her experience also includes achieving recognition as a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Advanced Veterinary Practitioner in Feline Medicine from 2017 to 2022, a testament to her dedication to advancing her expertise.
Her professional interest now lies in surgery, with a particular focus on providing a high standard of care in general practice. Mary Kate is passionate about helping animals achieve the best quality of life possible.
Outside of her veterinary work, Mary Kate enjoys staying active, spending time at the CrossFit gym, and exploring the great outdoors. She is a fan of the Texas sunshine!
At home, Mary Kate shares her life with a one-eyed "British" cat named Frank and an "American" miniature weenie dog named Thelma, both of whom are extremely needy.
