Update from Zoot: The Ponderosa Pet Resort Fire

September 20, 2021

The Zoot Pet Hospital and Luxury Boarding family is devastated to hear about the tragic event at the Ponderosa Pet Resort over the weekend. We are aware that some of our clients and their pets are affected.

From the Zoot Pet Hospital and Luxury Boarding family to the families affected, we are deeply sorry for your loss. We are here to support our community in any way we can.

There is still an ongoing investigation as to what, exactly, happened at Ponderosa. As soon as we are provided more details as to the cause, we'll work to apply any learnings that are generated to our hospital.

In the meantime, we want to reassure our clients of the following:

We are proud at Zoot to be AAHA accredited.

This is the leading certification in our industry. The requirements are high to retain the accreditation. These include annual fire inspections, as well as a thorough review of our fire safety and evacuation plan.

We also have hospital oversight.

This includes cameras, motion sensors and, of course, hard-wired fire alarms that automatically alert 911 and staff in case of any emergency.

Our dog boarding suites have indoor/outdoor access in all rooms.

This ensures that our boarders have both protection from the weather, and also, access to fresh air.

We have plans for further investments in months ahead, which we will share shortly.

Please reach out to our 20+ boarding staff if you have any questions. We'll work together to continue to raise the standard of care for any and all pets in our care.
