Zoot Pet Hospital Awards $4,000 in Scholarships
Zoot Pet Hospital awards $4,000 in scholarships to deserving Georgetown ISD students on May 17th.
BACKGROUND:
Zoot Pet Hospital and Luxury Boarding + Luxury Boarding is a Georgetown business founded by two high school friends, Jim Root and Dr. Wayne Zeh. Founded in 2008, Zoot fused these friend's unique work life experiences, a passion for business and veterinary medicine, to form the backbone of Zoot Pets. Jim, Wayne and fellow owner, Dr. Jensen Young, all strongly believe in supporting public education and hence have created these scholarships to reward high preforming students in Georgetown, particularly those interested in pursuing a post-secondary education in either business or veterinary medicine. Their parents were their biggest supporters during their formative high school years and thus they have named the scholarships in honor of them.
Sally and James Root, Sr. Scholarship (Business School)
$2,000 awarded to: Zachary Wolfe representing Georgetown High School. Zachary will major in Supply Chain Management at Texas Tech University. He is a well-rounded young man with an engaging personality. Zachary played varsity football. He worked with special needs kids in the PALS & Peer buddies program at GHS. Zachary has also served in the local Mobile Loaves and Fishes program feeding the homeless, and he assisted in Hurricane Harvey relief efforts last year.
David and Janith Zeh Scholarship (Veterinary Medicine)
$2,000 awarded to: Courtney Burris representing East View High School. Courtney will study Bio-Medical Science at Texas A&M University in what will be the first step in her pursuit to be a veterinarian. she has distinguished herself by her leadership at East View as captain of the tennis team and serving as Vice-President of student council. She also participated in varsity orchestra for her entire high school career.
